Teresa Lawton

Since Graduating from Winchester College of Art in 1994 Teresa Lawton has been successfully exhibiting since the mid 90’s. Having had paintings exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition on several occasions She has exhibited at the major London Art Fairs since 1995. In 1997 Teresa had her work selected by HRH the Prince of Wales for the Discerning Eye Exhibition in London.

Born in Dorset, Teresa spent most of the 70’s in London before living in Greece for a time. She had spent much time in Cornwall through her developing years as a painter and still spends much of the winter months at Lamorna Cove. She is an Associate member of the Penwith Gallery, St Ives, Cornwall and is a regular exhibitor with them. The mid 20th century St Ives artists have always been a great inspiration in her work and she has remained true to that influence throughout her career. 

“ Living in a Dorset village I have the advantage of beautiful countryside and the coast on my doorstep. I walk every day gathering inspiration and ideas for my paintings. My work is mostly imagined and invented, inspired by my walks.

Much of my history has been in abstraction and having gained confidence in that field it has given me the freedom to comfortably express my ideas in both abstraction and representation by combining the two”.
