Francesca Shakespeare
Francesca Shakespeare is the sister of Sophie Bailey and has participated in the creative life of Stinsford Studios for many years.
She lives and works in Oxford, where she teaches art part time and does community projects with The Ashmolean Museum and other organisations .
Her own practice currently consists of painting mainly ‘en plain air’ in oils or gouache on coloured grounds. Back in her studio she continues to explore ancient techniques such as encaustic and fresco, seeking to create works that have a reassuring, timeless appeal.
Having been a muralist and decorative painter in London during the 80’s and 90’s, she still undertakes the odd commission. She sells her work during Oxfordshire Artweeks and with Josie Eastwood Fine Art.
